Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Alchemy is the only way to make in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but it’s one of the most immersive ways to do things in any game. That’s not a surprise since KCD is one of the most realistic historical games as a whole. Making potions is also a hands-on job where players follow written instructions step by step.
Once a player has learned to read and gathered all the materials they need, they will always add a potion base to the cauldron. After that, the steps for making each potion are different, but players may need to use a crusher and mortar to grind the herbs, an hourglass to keep track of time, and sometimes they will even need to distill. When making potions in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it’s amazing that if players don’t do a good job and add too much of an ingredient or don’t let it simmer for long enough, they could make a stupid drink that could even poison them.
Medieval Dynasty
In many ways, Medieval Dynasty is a survival and building game that depends on making a lot. One way players can craft at the most basic level while they’re on the go is by gathering stone and wood to make simple tools. As they play, they’ll be able to learn new skills, like how to cook, sew, and work with wood.
All of these skills can be learned and used in the right buildings, which players unlock and place as they build a town. The huge variety of things, clothes, and food that players can make makes the game feel very real and shows how skilled and varied people’s lives were in the Middle Ages. Players can also hire locals and put them to work as, say, carpenters. This is part of the management part of the game.
Minecraft
A lot of players think of Minecraft when they want to make. The word is in the name, after all. Even though Minecraft might look like just another Lego-like block-building game, it has a lot of features that use creating. For new players, the making parts of the base game can be a bit much. The only way for players to craft things without knowing what they’re doing is to put ingredients in a crafting grid in their inventory or at a crafting table.
There’s something magical about Minecraft where you can imagine what different tools, items, and weapons would look like in a grid. Most of the time, crafting is “right on.” To stay alive in the harsh cube-shaped worlds, players have to make ladders, shovels, and many other forms.
Valheim
When it came out in early 2021, Valheim took the independent game world by storm, and a lot of people are still playing the Viking-themed survival game today. Valheim may not look like the most graphically exciting game out there, but it has a fun and complex crafting system that sends players all over the world, into different biomes, and into battles with bosses to get new recipes and gear.
Going into the game without knowing what you need to make is the best part. It’s fun to be surprised when you find a new resource and all the new recipes appear at once. There is a huge variety of things that can be made, some of which are realistic Norse or medieval items and others of which are made up. Players love Valheim because it’s pretty hard to play. Some have even called it a “hardcore” version of Minecraft because the boss fights and battles are so tough.
V Rising
At the time this was written, V Rising was the newest game on this list. It’s also one of the most fun independent games to come out in recent months. In a lot of ways, V Rising is like Valheim. Players take control of their own custom Vampires who have just come back to life after being buried and are now on a living world to build their kingdom. Top-down gameplay that looks and feels a bit like Diablo lets players explore the map and kill enemies, which they then eat to get valuable blood and essence that they can use to power their castles’ hearts.
You can fight bosses and unlock new things, which is a lot like Valheim. But V Rising goes one step further by letting players use skills and abilities, which makes the fighting much more important. When you get further into the game, crafting gets pretty complicated, and you have to make materials from scratch. The building techniques are fun.
Rust
The survival game Rust has a pretty simple system of gathering scrap, metals, wood, and a few blueprint-specific pieces. What makes this game unique, though, is the huge number of things that players can make.
Rust takes place in a world after the end of the world and lets players find materials in the empty wasteland around them. People who play the game can be like MacGyver and make some cool stuff. Consider the assault weapon. At first glance, it seems normal, but then you see that the stock of the gun is actually a shovel handle.Rust also has a lot of low-level clothes that look worn and dirty. For example, the game has a whole set of wooden weapons.Rust is hard to learn, but new players shouldn’t have to worry if they follow these tips.
Don’t Starve Together
You can make a huge range of things in the survival game Don’t Starve Together, from weapons and farming tools to wax paper that will keep your food from going bad. This popular 2.5D indie game isn’t the most beautiful in terms of graphics, but its unique art style doesn’t let it down. Don’t Starve is different from many other survival games because it has full animations for gathering supplies, which makes every moment feel more real.
In the game Don’t Starve, players’ things even have a “wetness” factor that makes some gear less useful. Luckily, there are lots of craft ideas out there to keep you from getting down.People can be as artistic as they want when they build bases in this game.
Factorio
Factorio is all about making things. At first, players have to do everything by hand, but soon they’ll be in charge of many assembly lines that are constantly making resources, melting down raw materials, or handling everything from oil to uranium. Some people make systems that are so complicated and interconnected that they almost look like works of art.
It’s not too hard to learn how to play Factorio, but it’s not easy either. For crafters who want to take their skills to a whole new level, Factorio is the right place to learn how to do it.
Death Stranding
When Death Stranding was first shown to the public, Sam Bridges (Norman Reedus) was seen carrying boxes that were stacked much higher than he was. The inventory method in the game is interesting: players have to carry around everything they want to use. This is a unique (and sometimes annoying) way to gather resources, but it does add to the realism that’s already there.
To top it all off, Sam can make a lot of things almost instantly using the futuristic Chiral Network. This includes bikes, bridges, mailboxes, and charging stations. This is a fun part of the game that fits nicely with Death Stranding’s sci-fi setting.
Far Cry 3
It’s pretty simple in Far Cry 3: “Get this many animal skins to craft that.” What makes this game unique, though, is how players get those hides. A lot of people have told Ubisoft over the years that its games show violence against animals.
In Far Cry 3 and 4, skinning animals is fully animated and messy, and players use a knife to cut out the insides of the animals. The main character of the game, Jason, even laughs and says how gross the job is. There’s an unexpected but welcome touch of reality in a game that’s mostly about gory killing.
Ark: Survival Evolved
One of the most interesting choices on this list is in Ark: Survival Evolved, a survival game that is always very popular. As an explorer, Skibidi Toilet is like the holy grail because it has so many maps and a huge number of real and imaginary species.
This huge area of land is full of materials for making that players can use to make their stone-age tools into space-age gadgets. Ark is like watching the history of technology change so quickly that you can hardly believe it. Ark’s players go out into the world to master it, one creation at a time, just like the old world’s inventors did.
No Man’s Sky
Some people didn’t like No Man’s Sky when it first came out, but it has since grown and changed, fixing many of the problems people had with it when it first came out. The open-universe gameplay in No Man’s Sky takes players on a trip through space to 18 quintillion different worlds.
You can get chemical elements from different sources and combine them with things like antimatter and magnetized ferrite to make new upgrades or gear during those journeys. What makes No Man’s Sky such a great game to get lost in is how big the world you can build is.
The Forest
In the indie survival game The Forest, the player is stuck on a peninsula by themselves that is full of mutant cannibals. The player is looking for his lost son Timmy after being the only person to survive a plane crash. The peninsula has a lot of natural resources that players can use. They can also steal supplies from other passengers and the area’s earlier (dead) visitors.
Even though it can get boring at times, cutting down a forest by hand and seeing it turn into a custom base is very interesting. It can be decorated with walls, walks, treehouses, and a lot more. Crafted armor can even be made from parts of deer, lizards, and people that you find on your travels around the map. Also, people who liked The Forest will be glad to hear that Sons Of The Forest is coming out soon.
Terraria
This 2D action-adventure classic seems easy at first glance, but there are a lot of fun things to do just below the surface. Making things is a big part of Terraria. Once players have enough raw materials, they can use them to make fantasy weapons and armor, build amazing homes full of comfy furniture, and a lot more.
Terraria is a sandbox game that uses random generation to keep things interesting. This means that there are no limits on what you can make, which is perfect since you spend a lot of time underground. Terraria has a lot to offer besides creating. The worlds are always changing, and there are many things to make.
Skyrim
The fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series has a making system that is both beautiful and very big. It is carefully integrated into the world of the game.
