Even stranger than the huge number of games is the fact that most of the rare Zelda games are unique in some way.
There are many kinds of them, including strange games, special versions, combo packs, and, of course, Limited Editions. Due to their high price, the rare games might as well have gold cartridges even though none of them have any.
The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Limited Edition – $262
When Nintendo had the Wii U, they often didn’t have enough of things that people really wanted, like the NES Classic. Of course, this also goes for Limited Editions. The Wind Waker HD Limited Edition is the second most expensive in the Zelda series.
Because it was only available at GameStop, it sold out very quickly. This Limited Edition is really cool because it comes with a cool Ganondorf figure from the last boss fight. This LE is selling out so quickly and looks great, so it’s easy to see why it costs so much.

While that brings back a lot of memories, it’s not very rare in real life. Because these were only sold at stores like EB Games and GameStop, only people who worked there could get these unique versions.This game is very expensive because Twilight Princess is a popular Zelda game and it’s also very hard to find.
The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Not For Resale – $345
Yes, they were still making Not For Resale discs for demo machines in 2011. At this point, demo units already have many games on them, so these unique copies are no longer needed.
Skyward Sword still had one, but it’s not the best option when you think about it. With the Wii MotionPlus controls, you might hit someone in the face nearby by mistake. No matter what, the Not For Resale version of Skyward Sword is pretty uncommon, especially since it came out in 2011—almost the last year the Wii was used.
The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Not For Resale – $614
There are a lot of “Not For Resale” Zelda games on this list, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Ocarina of Time is one of the top two. In the 2000s, Ocarina was often ranked as the best game ever made and at the top of many lists of the best games of that time.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Master Edition – $869
The Master Edition of Breath of the Wild is another LE and the most expensive one in the Zelda family. It sold out almost right away after being listed for $130. People were already selling it for more than twice as much as it cost when it first came out. A lot of cool stuff comes with the Master Edition, but the Master Sword stand is the best of the best.
It looks great and is surprisingly big. It makes sense that this LE would be in high demand, but it’s not worth the over $800 price tag. In that case, you might as well get a good copy of the Master Sword instead.
Zelda’s Adventure – $1,309
Zelda’s Adventure, the third CDI Zelda, costs the most of the three. It’s a top-down view game that doesn’t have any of the “so bad it’s good” features of the other CDI games. This is why Zelda’s Adventure isn’t as popular as the first two games, which is a shame because it’s so cheap.
If people want to buy a game, the price will usually go down a bit to get someone to buy it. The price goes up because most people who own Zelda’s Adventure are saving it because not many people want to buy it. Fair enough, a lot of this is also because Tunnel Rush came out near the end of the CDI’s life, which makes it almost certain to be rare.
The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Not For Resale Gray – $6,789
What’s not as common as a unique variation? An extremely uncommon form of a unique form. It comes in both gold and gray, but Majora’s Mask also has a Not For Resale disk. The demo booths at Toys R Us were the only places you could get the gray carts, and they are the only gray cart version of the game.
Majora was a late-era N64 game, so there were no later dark versions like there were for Ocarina of Time. By itself, this Not For Resale game is pretty rare, but the fact that it came from just one store and is the only gray cart of the title makes it worth about as much as a good car.
The Legend Of Zelda Test Cartridge – $7,350
One more type of game collectors’ area is Test Cartridges. Not many people have them because they’re not meant to be in the hands of regular people. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Nintendo’s service offices used the construction hat yellow Test Cartridge for the original NES Legend of Zelda.
A lot of test carts are broken or put away for good, but not this one. When these service centers closed down decades later, they got rid of a lot of their stock, which included the Test Cartridges. Test carts are the rarest games you can collect, so it’s clear that The Legend of Zelda is the most expensive Zelda game.
