Visitor Information Centre
Inside, you can learn about a plethora of activities available in the city. You may also book excursions and other activities here. You can also buy traditional Canadian souvenirs! As before stated, the Information Centre is in Confederation Park, across from Kingston City Hall.
This is also where you can see the Spirit of Sir John A., an antique steam engine that has been rebuilt and displayed on the waterfront. We should highlight that many of the top trips leave from right here or nearby. We’ll go over them in depth below, but so you know, this is where you can catch boat trips and trolley tours, among other things.

Kingston Trolley Tour
This “hop-on, hop-off” trip takes you all over the city to the sites that any visitor would want to see. You can even get off, tour an attraction (such as Bellevue House), and then take another Trolley – they run during the summer!
The trolleys include live narration from the operator as well as an audio guide, which makes them an excellent opportunity regarding the past of the city – and more! Eric has done it several times and enjoyed the tour. It’s also a terrific way to get to Fort Henry – but we’ll get to that later.

Historic Fort Henry
Do you want to discover more more Canada’s armed forces at one of its greatest important locations? Then Fort Henry, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an absolute must-see whilst in Kingston! Fort Henry is part of the “Kingston Fortifications National Historic Site,” which is a larger historical site. This property comprises the historic fortifications around Kingston Harbour as well as the Rideau Canal’s entry. Returning to Fort Henry, this “authentic” experience in a British military fort includes tours. A restaurant, rifle shooting, and a summer sunset cannon fire ceremony.

Kingston Walking Tour
Because Kingston has so much to offer, you can take one of the many Kingston walking tours. There is something for every person’s interests and physical abilities! You may go on Historical Kingston walking tours, bike tours, and Kingston Food and Beer Tours. As well as The Famous Haunted Walk of Kingston – Ghost Tour. While many of these tours leave from near the Tourist Centre. You should double-check the tour website or inquire when booking your ticket in case!

Springer Market Square
The dome of the old city hall dominates the riverfront across from the Visitor Centre. It’s a lovely structure, and you may take a self-guided tour within. Springer Market area is a big open-air area located outside and around the back, away from the river.

During every season, this area serves as a hub for events. During the summer, there’s also farmers/flea markets and “films around the square.” The market schedule can be here. The square is changed into a skating arena in wintertime, where you may enjoy ice skating!

Notorious Kingston Penitentiary
This prison, which was in 1835, housed Canada’s worst criminals for decades. The Pen, as it is now known, is closed and houses a museum as well as guided excursions. We did one of the guided excursions (the 1.5-hour Standard Tour) one summer and it was quite informative.
