The District Development Council (DDC) is a new tier of local autonomy that was created into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2020. It was created as part of the efforts by the government to decentralize power and promote an environment of democratic governance at the grassroots level in the region.

DDC DDC ( DDC full form) is a representative body which comprises elected members from each district. The members are elected by an election which is held every five years. The DDC has the authority to design, approve, and implement development plans and plans in the district.

The functions of the DDC include:

  1. Plans to promote economic development and social justice in the district
  2. Implementation of the development programs and schemes
  3. The monitoring and evaluation improvement activities in the district
  4. Collaboration with local bodies in order in order to ensure that the development programs are implemented effectively. development programs

The establishment of the DDC is considered an important step in the direction of empowering local communities and encouraging inclusion across Jammu and Kashmir.
